The Short Story
Hi, I'm Decater Collins (most people just call me Doc). I was first attracted to writing because the stories we make up are more interesting than the real life around us. Probably why I loved the bible so much as a kid. What follows is the story about me. Most of it is true. I think. No promises.
I love to tell stories. I love dogs more than people. Especially beagles.
That's it. That is all you really need to know.

This is Bacon. He's the best thing that ever happened to me. My life changed forever when he came into my life.
Outside of writing, I run my own branding + marketing company, Kleur Studios, and am one of the founders of The Hood Collective.
I also rock climb, go on road trips, and occasionally time travel. But I fear I've said too much.

The Long Story
Have you ever thought it was weird the importance we place on names. There are so many stories, myths even, in which the key to destroying someone of great power is learning their true name and using it against them.
In our everyday lives, people get annoyed when their names are pronounced wrong, when we use the wrong nickname. It's David, not Dave. When we use their dead name or last name or pet name.
Why is our name tied so directly to our identity? Sure, we need something to go on our driver's license and tombstone, but why place so much importance on something that your parents probably got out of a big book of names or you're named after a great aunt you've never even met and only seen a few photographs of.
My point is, if you ask me what my real name is, I'm just going to make something up. Because if it turns out that I was wrong, and the key to destroying someone of great power is knowing their real name, I'm going to feel pretty stupid for just giving away mine for free.
